National Design Award
The American Alliance of Museums’ 2014 Museum Publications Design Competition has awarded two prizes to us for our work on Grand Valley State University’s Cyril Lixenberg exhibition.
A panel of independent jurors from around the U.S. recognized Plenty with First Prize in the Supplementary Material category for its Cyril Lixenberg rack card and an Honorable Mention for its exhibition catalog promoting “Cyril Lixenberg: An Artist Journey.” Now in its 25th year, the contest is the only national, juried competition of its kind, and winners are selected for their overall design excellence, creativity, and ability to express an institution’s personality, mission, or special features.
“This was a very important project for GVSU and our multiple partners throughout West Michigan.” said Henry Matthews, Director of Galleries and Collections at Grand Valley State University. “We are thrilled to be recognized by our national peers. It confirms our own rich resources right here in Grand Rapids with the outstanding and talented folks at Plenty.”
All winning entries for the 2014 Museum Publications Design Competition are showcased online.
This award adds to the honors Plenty has already received for its work on the Cyril Lixenberg exhibition, including a 2013 Quest for Excellence Award for Best New Publication by Michigan Museums Association and a 2014 Silver Addy Award.
